Jan 19…
Another quiet day – post office, Office Max, Trader
Joe’s, Goodwill. (Greg wants a larger frying pan, which we have no storage
space for. Fortunately, they didn’t have one.) While Greg was fixing dinner, I was
working on this blog and felt I needed a stretch. I stepped outside, saw a
magnificent sunset and grabbed my camera just in time to catch this tree shot.
BlogThoughts… We eat well. All the Elks Lodges have full
kitchens and serve a number of meals each week. One of the other campers told
Greg how surprised and happy his wife was to discover she didn’t have to cook
all the time. Good for them. Tonight the Elks are offering a chicken-fried
steak dinner for $12. (For the uninitiated, chicken-fried steak is tenderized cube steak coated with seasoned flour and pan-fried.) Greg and I enjoyed an $8 ribeye w/ baked
potatoes and fresh beans, and a Costco sea salt caramel for dessert. Half the
price, twice the flavor.
Wednesday, Jan 18…
Chore day (I guess - Greg was running errands
here and there). I worked on this blog and took a good long walk through nearby
neighborhoods. This Elks Club backs up to James Madison Elementary School
(whose mascot is a chicken – what would Madison think of that?). Anyway, the
kids were at recess when I passed – English and español effortlessly
intermingled. Dinner in Palm Desert with friends from Greg's Alfa Romeo days. Lacking any significant activity, I'll share a few tree shots from today's walk.

Quite an impressive spread. |
What a gorgeous photo of the palm trees - I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe ribeye, green beans, and baked potatoes even sound good to me. You do seem to be eating quite well on the trip - enjoy!
