Fireworks on the FitBit

Saturday, September 9...

Greg and I walked down to the lake this morning and discovered a complete recycling station in the lower parking lot. Finally, someone cares! Unfortunately, a week or so ago we finally caved in and dumped all our recyclables in the trash. We did still have a few empty wine bottles, so at least those will be disposed of properly.

Anyway, we climbed the earth dam and followed the lake shore to the fishing pier and a small beach. No motorized boats allowed. I took a couple other walks later and actually managed to get 10K on my FitBit. The woods and lake are wonderful, but the dry dust, dry air and high altitude take some getting used to.

Up to the top of the dam, and...

... along the shore to the fishing pier.

Serenity.

Evening sky (as I reached/passed 10,000 steps).
BlogPostscript... FitBits like to interact. Ten minutes before every hour, I feel a little buzz and get some upbeat variation of "How 'bout a little stroll of 247 steps?" (The number is random and doesn't seem to have any mathematical connection to my total steps at the time.) When I reach 10K, I get about a 10-second buzz and fireworks exploding on the screen. (More serious walkers set their goal much higher than 10K, which is just a little over 4 miles.)
