Thursday, Sept 14…
The RV Park at Grand Teton is first-come/first-served,
but it’s not far away so we pulled out around 9am, as usual. Straight shot south
on 191/89, with no intersection until after you enter Teton. A full hookup
site was available, but not ‘til afternoon. I wandered the parking lots
(checking license plates) until the drizzle turned to rain, then we slipped
into the visitor center and watched a great film on the re-introduction of
wolves in Yellowstone, beginning in 1995. The photography was fantastic – cameras must have been on this pack 24/7.

After a late lunch, we took a short drive
through the park, stopping at Willow Flats to grab a couple shots of the giant
peaks before the weather got too bad. The first photo says it all: Yes, there are
mountains, but several of those peaks have already been swallowed up in storm
clouds. We continued for another half hour or so, then gave up and headed back to study the park info and plan the next couple days.

Willow Flats: sage, a little autumn color, Jackson Lake, Teton Mts, and clouds. |

BlogThoughts… Somewhat frustrating day. Greg gets
irritated when he can’t get a FB post through (which is most of the time now).
I’ve missed some photo ops because of camera setting issues. Tonight was
relaxing, though. And, for what it’s worth, after today’s damp trek thru
parking lots, I have seen cars from 44 states within just these 2
national parks, including lots from Washington State (and one from Alaska).
