South to San Antōn

Saturday, Feb 18…
Putzed around this morning, finishing up yesterday’s blog and walking thru the campground checking RV model names. (I have over 100 already, and the teacher in me could easily develop a lesson on the persuasive power of language by having kids sort them according to their type of appeal – i.e. status, wanderlust, adventure, power). Same lesson would work in a marketing class. But wait… I’m retired!)

Heavy traffic out of Austin and again as we neared San Antonio. We’re parked north of the city at the home of a business friend of Greg’s (who’s also seriously into drag racing, restoring vehicles, etc.) Nice folks, as always. Their RV looks like a Greyhound bus on steroids (and w/ a much more attractive paint job). Forty feet + a trailer for the dragster = way more than I’d want to steer through city streets!

How many roads do you see?
Only one picture from today...

BlogThoughts... I forgot to include a photo of the Continental Club yesterday. My inside shot didn't turn out well, but think Valentine red (old Valentine red, not left over from Tuesday 😃). The venue holds maybe a 100, if it's packed (which it often is for the 10pm sets). Small stage, and small dance floor where a couple probably in their 70s danced almost every number. Good music. ↓

Just a few doors down from Amy's Ice Creams.
I also want to mention Uncommon Objects, another store I popped into during my SoCo stroll. It was your typical Snohomish antiques store subdivided into a gazillion sections according to specific dealer. Except I'm not sure the sections here represented dealers. A few were monochrome-themed. One, for example, had a wide variety of items that were all brick red. Another section was turquoise-based. And it worked! Each of those 2 sections included a bookcase filled with old/new/fact/fiction books bound in the appropriate color. Another section (and again, these are only a few areas within the store) tended toward neutral tones - no books this time, but there was a $2400 hippopotamus skull on display. Awesome!
