The Holiday Crowd Arrives

Saturday, April 15…
This was a workday for me. First major doc on a BIG $$$ real estate appraisal came in today, so that’s where most of my time has been spent. Greg’s made friends with one of our neighbors and putzed around with minor maintenance issues. And he went grocery shopping – fresh bi-color corn for one. Grown in Mexico and delicious! I did take break for a walk, and I can report that the park is now almost 100% full. This is the first county park we’ve used. In the state & national parks, we see mostly retirees, free spirits, and an occasional family if it’s a weekend. We also see lots of other MHs in those parks.

Settling in before the crowd.

This weekend we are one of only 2 actual MHs (living quarters w/ engine). All the rest (and there are lots!) are 5th wheels or trailers. My guess is that everyone in the south already has a truck, so why spend money on another engine.  It’s Easter weekend too, so there are lots of extended families, lots of kids, lots of food, and lots of dogs.
(Probably lots of beer, too, but it’s kept under wraps. 😊)

Inside, my work station.
Outside, neighbor's campfire (& Greg)

BlogThoughts... We've been in the South for a long time. The hospitality is genuine, and I've gotten used to ya'll, but I still cringe (inwardly) when I hear ākrin (acorn), ain't, or mah knee been tore up since... I first heard akrin from a local pastor with a PhD. I honestly didn't realize what he was talking about at first. It must be harder to be an English teacher down here.
