So GPS has been okay since the
airport fiasco. Today, however, we had serious doubts. This morning Greg prints
out a map and 3 pages of Google directions and gives them to me so I can
navigate. Yay – I get to navigate. We leave the campground and I direct Greg through
the first 2 turns. At the next one, however, he prefers what Garmi shows on the
screen. Not only is that the end of my responsibility, but we have no overall
map of Garmi’s route and eventually there’s this looong stretch where we were
out in the middle of nowhere, with Garmi telling us to turn where there are no
roads. I also can’t seem to match up where we are with anything on the Google
directions. Somehow we do end up in Macon, but I’m pretty sure the Google route
was much simpler. (And if I had my druthers, I’d just plot the course on a
paper map,)

Campground is nice (another huge lake – there’s a dam somewhere), though a lot of the sites are far from level. Not too many folks here, but most of those who are have a boat and/or fishing gear. There’s a nice sandy beach in the swimming area – and yes, it’s definitely warm enough to swim.

BlogThoughts... When our Beaufort friends (who have traveled a lot) heard we were planning 4 nights in Macon, they were surprised. "Why?" There's nothing there." We're happy just to have some down time, but we also have tickets for community theatre tomorrow night and curious to see what else we may discover.
