Cousin Mike

Wednesday, June 21

Cousin Mike & his wife Beth took us to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. Though much smaller than Longwood (PA) or Butchart, they are indeed lovely and innovative. The children’s area includes Blueberries for Sal sculptures (including a pail and dozens of bronze blueberries on the ground), spouting “whales” (smooth boulders), and several interactive activities during the day. I focused most of my photography on color, which I’ll share as a (primitive) quilt.

(So much for computer quilting. I don't have time to fuss with these anymore. Just imagine a properly aligned 3x4 patch design.)

BlogThoughts…  Growing up, I saw Mike more than my other 2 cousins. We always had fun together, but I still never knew him well. (I also spent Thanksgiving w/ his family the 4 years I was in college, but I’m not sure Mike was always there.) He and Beth have been together 36 years, 30 of those (and still counting) selling invisible fencing. I think they’re very typical of the Maine mindset: friendly, stubborn when they need to be (I didn’t experience that today, but I’m surmising), and happy living life the way they want and letting others do the same. I like Maine.
