Sunday, June 4
Slow day, ending in showers. (At
least the rain usually holds off until mid-late afternoon.) I made it to church
and back on my own. No traffic slowdowns on Sunday mornings. Small crowd (it’s a branch, not a ward) of friendly folks,
as always. In the afternoon, Greg & I tried to decide exactly what (and
how) we’re doing in New York. (The last time I was in the city I was on a 9th grade field trip to the U.N. I remember nothing… and a lot has changed in 56
years). Internet was super-slow, which totally frustrates Greg. He finally gave
up and went grocery shopping. I cleaned up the kitchen area and set out his
wine and a new glass (no stem, soft plastic, with a dimple – it’s apparently the
latest trend) to set a more relaxed mood on his return. Then I wandered over to
the camp laundry and got the sheets washed.
Also finished my latest book, The Rainbow Comes and Goes, a series of recent
and very personal emails between Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria
Vanderbilt. Fascinating, and definitely thought-provoking. Just before this, I
read Cooper’s other book, Dispatches from
the Edge – excellent! Both were impulse purchases after our tour of The
Breakers in Newport. Expensive (I bought them in the gift shop), but I have no
regrets. (Lu, I think you would thoroughly enjoy both of these.)

I walk (and take the long way) to appease my FitBit. (and yes, I'm lookin' a bit chunky... and white-headed - scary.) |
