Saturday, May 26…
Slow morning – no great rush to get
going. Nothing particularly noteworthy
about the drive itself. We’re avoiding toll roads, so a divided highway was a
luxury and most of the time we were on regular ol’ 2-lane roads w/ narrow
shoulders. At least there were no low bridges to deal with! We have a new GPS system
waiting at my sister’s. Maggie (Magellan)
will replace Garmi, and Greg can’t wait to make the change. Maggie is designed
for RV/commercial vehicles, knows where all the low overpasses and diesel stations
are, and appears to present info/directions more proactively. We’ll draw our
own conclusions Tuesday when we set out for Cape Cod.
My sister Lynn owns a dog/cat boarding
& grooming service. [A bit of backstory. Always crazy about dogs, she moved
from MD to MA right after high school to work for William Trainor, one of the top 2 show handlers in the U.S. Over the next 30 years, she also became a master
groomer and gained some business experience. Ten years ago the Trainor kennel
property came up for sale, and Lynn was in a position to purchase her old
stomping grounds. Pretty cool!]
We arrived just after 2pm, and by
dinnertime Greg had McGyver’d full elec/water/sewer service for us. Lynn joined
us for dinner and a game of Scrabble... which she won. We play a lot of
Scrabble whenever we get together.

Temporary sewer drain. (The dumpster is for construction debris. Lynn's having a house built!) |
BlogThought... When we took my cousin out for breakfast, he ordered scrapple, a side dish I remember well from my childhood. Note: I remember it; I do not remember liking it. I asked Joe (the meat king) what the difference is between scrapple and sausage. He told me it was meat + filler. I tasted his. Not terrible, but the filler was really obvious. Kinda like Jimmy Dean mixed w/ Cream of Wheat. I'll stick to Scrabble (what a difference a letter makes).
