Lynn’s oldest granddaughter is
marching in the local MemDayParade, so we’re off to Dudley to secure our
sidewalk space. Alli plays bari sax when she marches, flute in concert band,
and I think there may be a couple other instruments she’s picked up along the
way. She’s just finishing up her freshman year, and has been chosen to replace
the graduating drum major. Quite an honor (and she’ll have to learn to march
backwards, which should be easy - she’s never had trouble learning anything
else). Great small town America parade.
Military (there was also a contingent of vets) |
+ Music (Alli's in there somewhere) |
+ nostalgia = GOOD PARADE. |
After the parade we gathered at Alli's house, along with her other grandparents and a few friends. Lots of food (and lots of noise - Alli is the oldest of 6, and there were a couple kid guests). All good. Later, Greg napped while I did laundry (and won 2 Scrabble games!) at Lynn's. That night Greg & I watched the Memorial Concert at the Capitol, which included some very powerful stories as well as great music. Both of us were reaching for tissues.
